Compact, Lightweight Kitchen

One of the first things we upgraded was our camping cookware. We started out using bulky and heavy things that were originally used in our kitchen at home and eventually were downgraded to camping use. Unlike the hammock, we didn’t spend much time researching what to get and just went to our local outdoors store and chose from what they had. We decided on the Pinnacle Backpacker Intergrated Cooking System by GSI and we have zero regrets. With everything we have packed inside it weighs 3 lbs and is 5.5 inches tall and 8.5 inches wide.

What’s Inside

Inside the Pinnacle

  • 2 L Pot
  • 8″ Frying pan
  • Strainer Lid
  • 2 Plates
  • 2 Bowls
  • 2 Insulated Mugs with Lids
  • Fabric Sink
  • Folding Pot Gripper
  • 2 Staking Cutlery
  • Lysol Wipes
  • Scrubby Pad
  • Towel
  • Cutting Board
  • Scraper
  • Wilderness Wash
  • Soap Bottle
  • Lighter (not pictured)
  • Spice Jar (holds 4 different spices)
  • Oil Bottle
  • Pivot Spatula
  • Pivot Spoon
  • Pivot Tongs
  • Fabric Tote for the loose items

We added the Plates and the Crossover Kitchen Kit this year, which sit almost perfectly inside the Pinnacle. The frying pan doesn’t sit as snug on top when everything is together – see first picture.

We had splayds (spoon, fork, knife combo) before the stacking cutlery but Bren snapped his while using it like a sling shot. We wanted try something new since a fork and knife don’t really do ya much good when they are on the same utensil. That being said, I wouldn’t order the stacking cutlery again either – they don’t actually snap together and end up loose in the case – not a huge deal for some but I am passionate when it comes to organization.

It’s also looking like we will need to replace the pot and frying pan next summer before our big bike trip – which will be 3 years after buying this kit – pretty impressive.
